TODAY’S HEADLINE: Questioning God?
Exodus 5:2 (KJV) “And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go”
Who is the Lord? What a challenging question asked by the king of Egypt! Many people directly or indirectly ask God this kind of contemptuous question these days. They are so devil-possessed; and self-obsessed with self-reliance. False self-sufficiency made them arrogantly draw battle line against the Almighty. Asking who God is means asking God to prove and approve His existence, potency and efficacy. Just like Pharaoh, such people may be swept away by the violent reply of the Almighty. They may also receive the kind of humiliation of king Nebuchadnezzar as the answer. Any conversation playing down God’s graceful and miraculous role or action is from the pit of hell. Sidetrack and circumventing Jehovah in affairs stir God’s fiercest violent response. His glory He won’t share with anyone. Warring against God’s authority is joking with Consuming Fire. Haman questioned the power of the God of the Jews by his annihilation plans; his treachery boomerang and consumed him, his family and cohorts. The enemies of Daniel tried to mess up his God; they ended up finishing themselves. As well, on his way to Damascus, hear Saul asking who the Lord was in (Acts 9:5) “And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks”. Anyone demanding who God is should be ready to receive some divine bout-blows. However, there are those who with genuine reverence seek to know who God is. Elisha shouted at river Jordan: Where is the Lord God of Elijah? He was only demanding supernatural intervention of his Master’s God. Moses asked God’s identity; he got the reply: ‘I AM WHO I AM’. Seeking to know more of God is quite different from asking questions to challenge His sovereign supremacy. Lucifer tried that in heaven, he was doomed, and expunged out. Woe unto him who fight against God. Such a man is invariably defeated decisively. God is unquestionable my friend. He is the ‘Greater Than Solomon’; omniscience, and therefore all wise. I admonish a believer in the thoughtful Word of Mary in (John 2:5) “…… Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it”. Retorts and murmuring are interpreted as questioning the integrity, power and faithfulness of God. Please appease Him; do not aggrieve Him.
