DAY’S HEADLINE: The Special Grace
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8 KJV
The special grace of God is the special gift of mercy. It means special freedom, and undeserved favor and salvation specially granted by God through Jesus. This is an unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their prosperity, regeneration or sanctification. Grace may as well connotes a showcase of unconditional love, and unlimited supports. Today, we are discussing this issue of unique grace in the light of unusual freedom and exemptions. This message is not an excuse or license to go about sinning or flouting heavenly orders anyway. Liberty should not be bastardized or exercised to befall those who are weak in faith. The truth is, grace don’t grow in sinful impunity. Hear this in (Romans 6:1) “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” However, if care is not taking to lean on the Holy Spirit, the subject of grace may be difficult for baby Christians to safely chew or digest. Years back, God asked me a simple question: ‘What is sin?’ I promptly replied, ‘Sin is doing something wrong’. He replied I didn’t get it. Then He explained that iniquity is doing what God does not permit or approve; whether it is right or wrong by human judgment. Therefore, grace may bring exceptional permission, regardless human opinion. God judges by the genuine heart intentions, not essentially sincerity. For examples: David and his fellow dissidents delebrately ate the food divinely reserved for only the Levits; God asked king Saul to ruthlessly destroy the Amalekites; Jesus took over another man’s donkey; Peter’s vision and instruction to visit Cornelius was against Jewish tradition; Paul’s radical teachings negates physical circumcisition, and food offered to idols; Rahab the harlot was eventually prominent in history; etc. Grace in this light is the exception that comes with God’s sovereign will and decision. It is a break of rule and order with God’s backing. This is not necessarily by self justification or self righteousness. This complication is why the right judgement is solely reserved for the discretion of the Almighty. More so why that little widow’s mite was strangely adjudged the best offering by Jesus. Special grace is not a digression, rather, it is a divine holy bias, based on individuals relationship with God. One man’s meat may mean another man’s poison. Therefore, copying in the Kingdom of God is a dangerous venture. So, the diversity of the order of special grace is not a scriptural contradiction, but the special leading for an individual by God. Hosea’s marrying a whore came by such personal instruction. Struggles and guilt continue without diligent attention to the Holy Ghost special directives. Relationship with God is essentially individualistic. That is your special grace. Whereas, Bible injunction is the standard. May you understand your peculiar grace. Amen.
