THEME: DIVINE RETRIBUTION

AUTHOR: Rev’d Israel A. Adegbite
TEXT: Psalm 91:1 “O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself”.
Retribution is a justly applied penalty for an offence or a wrongdoing. It is a vengeance reaction against adversaries and foes. Divine retribution simply means harvesting the seed of some sinful act. It is an invariable truth that the seed sown type answers to the fruit reaped kind. Listen to this in Hosea 8:7 “For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind …..”. As light begets light; and deep calls unto the deep; so it is with people’s actions and inactions. The inputs determines the outputs. All notable Bible characters became either famous or notorious by the qualities and the quantities of their exhibited contributions. Definitely, God is a rewarder of all works of man; whether good or bad. The recompense is the justice that should be expected by all men. See this in Gal 6:7 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap”. Where everyone is today is not a function of luck; rather it is the manifestation of earlier works. Of course, grace is the maker of a man; but man must work on (and at) something worthwhile for the grace to complement. A truant student who plays away needs not be disappointed during the examination. It is what you give that shall be given back unto you in greater measures. Therefore, retribution is a boomerang effect of all misconducts. No sinful man; except by the grace of Jesus; can escape the retributive sword of Damocles. Listen to Romans 12:19 “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord”. Retributive justice belongs only to God’s sovereign discretion. I pray for a believer today: The blood of Jesus saves you from the vengeance of God. May the blood of Jesus clear away your sins, guilt and due punishment. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

THEME: PERSPECTIVES FROM GOD’S SPECTACLES

AUTHOR: Rev’d Israel A. Adegbite
TEXT: Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord . For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts”.
Every human being is a specie of a particular and a peculiar purpose. It is quite unfortunate that most people are not in terms or in agreement with the processes, pattern and nature of their destinies. Lots of people are viewing life through the binoculars of the self, flesh, world, philosophy, myth, and others diverse opinions. Many men are allowing the lies of the devil to reform what God had already formed them to become. The devil’s deception had been permitted for too long to remold what God had innately molded to His own taste. So, every man’s declarations should be: ‘I am what God says I am’. ‘I achieve what God had empowered me to attain’. For example, God was seeing Gideon as his mighty Battle Axe, prepared to bring down the Medianites. Pitiably, Gideon was full of fear and excuses. He thought of himself as weak, coward and insignificant. Hear his God given mandate in Judges 6:14 “And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?”. The twelve spies sent by Moses came up with conflicting reports. Except Joshua and Caleb; all the other ten men viewed the issue in variance with God’s agenda towards the promised land. They saw themselves as grasshoppers. Whereas, God was viewing them as victors and winners. Elijah lost the sight of his being a firebrand ‘Man of God’ he was noted for; he ran away from Jezebel.  It is only the correct Godly viewpoints that may boost a man’s esteem, faith and confidence. Seeing one’s self from the vantage of God’s perspective is not a self overestimation. Once the heaven has spoken concerning you; it becomes your attainable destiny. Therefore, being what God had desired for you to be is a function of your walking in it’s conscious recognition. Therefore, it makes sense to meticulously work it out in agreement with its spiritual reality. Understanding the actual estimation of your Godly endowments is essential to knowing who and what you really are. You shall be what God says you are. I see your innate position glaringly manifesting. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

THEME: CONQUERING THE MENACE OF DEBT

AUTHOR: Rev’d Israel A. Adegbite
TEXT: 2 Kings 4:1 “Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord : and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen”.
Debt is a deficit that occur when income and revenue are inadequate; therefore incapable of capturing expenditures, bills and demands. Debt is a situation where one expends what one is yet to earn. It simply means eating up the resources and provisions of the future in the present. Debt is an offspring of poverty and lack; for it is senseless to go about soliciting for advances in the mist of adequate surplus. Borrowing may be permissible; but it is not the perfect will of God, who Himself is the Jehovah Jireh. Debt is inglorious; it may herald the liquidation of corporations; it may bankrupt a government, and it may lead to the forfeiture of the personal assets staked as the collateral. Children of the Kingdom are supposed to dwell in economic liberation, and financial upper hand. Yes, we are destined to be lenders, and definitely not the borrowers. See this in Deut 15:6 “For the Lord thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you”. Debt is unquestionably a burden; and therefore depressive, shameful and oppressive. Lenders lord things like the draconian Interests, Shylock terms, Cowing, Tributes, Monitoring; and of course; Insulting words on the borrowers. Debt is rudely not pleasurable; it is a trap of the enslavers. Listen to Prov 22:7 “The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender”. You want to overcome debts? You crave for freedom from its entanglements? Good! Please be admonished by these eight thoughtful tips: 1. Work Hard 2. Pray Fervently for Emancipation 3. Plan Wisely 4. Strategize Correctly 5. Be Organized 6. Scale Your Preference Right 7. Be Disciplined in Spending 8. Be Faithful in Tithing, Offering and Giving. Can you imaging the fish turning to a bank ATM machine for Simon Peter to settle his civic obligation? Meditate on the miraculous settlement of the debt of that widow. I heard the prosperous Bishop David Oyedepo say: “Dead or alive, I owe no man a dime”. This is obviously an enviable attainment. I pray for a believer today: God of Elisha shall miraculously settle all your debts. Wisdom to live in sprawling abundance will not elude you. Arise from debt! Shine in wealth!! Jesus light has come!!! The Lord is your Shepherd; trust in God; you shall not want. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

THEME: HEARKENING DILIGENTLY

AUTHOR: Rev’d Israel A. Adegbite
TEXT: Deuteronomy 28:1 “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth”.
Listening is a display of meekness, maturity, understanding and leadership quality. You know, faith is described to come by hearing; hearing by the word of God. May be that is the reason each one has two ears and only one mouth. So, Christians are persuaded to be attentive to worthwhile, godly information more than speaking. The radio and television stations of heaven are transmitting graceful signals 24/7. The question is: how many people are catching these daily releases of divine news, messages, enlightenments, powerful leadings and impacting visions. Sad enough, the contemporary man is too busy to be diligently inclined to God’s very necessary instructions. Man thinks he has all the solutions because of the ever increasing technological advancements. Man has become stiff necked to the corrective God’s words for directions and redirections. Flesh, nature, selfish interest, and the devils are leading world leaders into floating a new word order that is independent of Godly originality, interference and intervention. Whereas, the truth is that: Missing heavenly directives may be equal to missing man’s temporal and eternal  destiny. Life purpose may be bastardized because of spiritual deafness. People may perish for lack of spiritual vision. Therefore a novice may die of ignorance. Precision is essential when it comes to obeying divine rules; and keying into heavenly principles. For a wise man, prayer of inquiry is the key that opens up godly Logos and Rhema; influencing profitable directions and steps. Hear Jer 5:21 “Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not”. Someone who is deaf and blind; physically or more so Spiritually; is technically best addressed as ‘a late’. Man’s decision to be attentive to God’s word and vision is a free will venture; not by coercion. Listen to Jesus in Mark 4:23 “If any man have ears to hear, let him hear”. Paying rapt attention to God’s word is one thing; using the transforming ideas and information received, promptly and gainfully, is another. Whereas, only the hearer who is as well a doer is really benefitted. See James 1:23 “For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass”. Revelation is the bedrock of empowerment. I pray for a believer: May you be able to see into the invisible. May you have the ability to hear the inaudible. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

THEME: PERILS OF LUKEWARMNESS

AUTHOR: Rev’d Israel A. Adegbite
TEXT: Revelation 3:16 “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth”.
The state of lukewarmness is a state of acting tepidly, halfheartedly, undecided, hypocritical, unassured, unconvinced, vibrating, fluttering, skeptical and double minded. A lukewarm man is ever sitting on the fence. He is a pitiable man who lacks clear identity. Such man takes two steps forward, and four, backward. It is of course a state of confusion. Unstable like the weather. It is an attack designed by Satan to rattle and rock man’s mindset. Such drifting heart is ejected, vomited and rejected by Jesus. Serving God and Mammon is unacceptable by the Christ. Anyone coming to God must staunchly believe that He is. After all, the church was built upon the rock, and not on the boisterous and troubled ocean current. Listen to James 1:8 “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways”. A man that is neither hot nor cold in attitude cannot pretend or claim to operate in faith. Boldness and confidence are embattled where a man swings and rocks in belief like the ball of an old analogue wall clock. This is dangerous. Hear James 1:6-7 “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord”. I therefore admonish you declare your decisive stand and position in God. Fluctuating may displace an entity. What is worthy of doing, is worthy of doing wholeheartedly and  optimally. I advise you are fully committed; throwing yourself into whatever you are led by the Holy Spirit to engage in. This is the mother of desperate dedication. See Rom 8:35 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”. I pray: May you be hot in God, and for God. You will not be expunged from God’s kingdom. In the name Jesus. Amen.

THEME: THE PRIVILEGES OF GIVING

AUTHOR: Rev’d Israel A. Adegbite
TEXT: Proverbs 14:31 “He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor”.
Giving, from Christianity point of order, is a sacrificial parting with one’s valuables to meet the needs of others; done with the emblem of love; meant to honor God. Giving is a living seed that is designed to bring forth multiples in harvest; if planted anyway. However, the sowing season is usually a tough time. This seedtime is invariably very necessary if abundance may be reaped. The sower is the giver; The seed is the gift object; The farmland connotes the beneficiary; The harvest, of course, is God’s reward. Therefore, giving is a Godly hybrid enterprise whose plentiful yield of dividend cannot fail. Those who give to the poor lend to God. The sure expectations of compound interest on this cannot be denied. Hear Eccl 11:1 “Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days”. Therefore, beggars are opportunities for economic boosts to a giver with understanding. Giving beget receiving in same kind, but in greater measures. Sowing beckons to appropriate and proportionate orders of reaping. Meeting the needs of others is a boomerang. A greed and stingy fellow is likened to glutton who refuses to defecations. Abraham gave hospitality and received Isaac. Jesus gave His life and receive glory. God traded with His Son – Jesus and gain several children. A grain abides alone until it is sown. It is more blessed to give than to receive. Psalm 41:1-3 enumerates some 5 cogent rewards of giving. It is indeed the covenant demand to prime your sought wealth. Listen to my scriptural admonition in Psalm 82:3 “Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy”. Your giving must be willingly and cheerfully. I pray, as you imbibe the grace of giving; You receive multiple returns. You dwell in health. You lay treasures in heaven. Henceforth, be able to lay down. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

THEME: MENTORSHIP & DISCIPLESHIP

AUTHOR: Rev’d Israel A. Adegbite
TEXT: Ruth 1:16 “And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God”.
A mentor is simply a wise, worthy and trusted leader who may effectively serve as one’s master, teacher, prophet, counselor, role model, confidant, and director. He is a man who is already at a vantage juncture we aspire to reach. While a disciple is expected to be a volunteer servant, learner, follower, protégé and subordinate who is a student; schooling to overcome life, ministry and career temptations. The reasons for an established mentor are: Guides; Impartation of Knowledge; Enlightenment; Share Experiences; Encourage; Intercede; Correct; Reprimand; Help; Nurture; etc. See some Bible examples:  1. Ruth who followed her mother in-law 2. The 400 miscreants who followed David 3. Elisha followed Elijah 4. Joshua served Moses 5. Lot followed Abraham 6. Philip mentored that Ethiopian Eunuch 7. Timothy was a son in faith to Apostle Paul 8. Jesus had disciples and Apostles. These followers were faithful fans who humbly learned at His feet. The qualities of a good mentor are: Loaded with the Spirit & the Word; Wise; Loving; Patience; Listening; Successful; Resourceful; Dedicated; Passionate; Integrity; Faithful; Leadership Qualities, etc. Whereas, a disciple is solely expected to be meek, and ready to rub mind with greater minds. Just like in marriage; Humility & Love are essential builders of mentor/protégé relationship. It is no gainsaying; as husband, the mentor is the superior in this partnership. The anointing usually flow from the henchman down to the disciples, for their elevation. Listen to Luke 6:40 “The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master”. I admonish you prayerfully discern your mentor or (and) your protégé. I pray for somebody: A ‘David’ will not act wickedly against his ‘Uriah’. Some ‘Israelites’ will not cause their ‘Moses’ to stumble. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
