THEME: GOD’S GOODNESS & MERCY
AUTHOR: Rev’d Israel A. Adegbite
TEXT: Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever”.
The grace, and not the grave, that divinely accorded us in the month of August is very commendable. Glory to God for the opportunity to witness the end of this month. More so, I very much appropriate God; for today is the birthday of one of my sons. Glory to God. Hallelujah!!! Now promptly to the spiritual menu of the day. The above quotation is a very common declaration among many believers after a prayer session. The daily recitation of it has reduced it to a mere contemptible kindergarten poem; which shouldn’t be. See, this verse started with an established assurance and a graceful confirmation of ‘SURELY’. ‘Goodness’ is self explanatory. It means all pleasantries that make life worth living. ‘Mercy’ too is not a bogus word. It signifies grace, favour and kindness. In this view, any man accompanied by these God’s enduring pleasantries and favour is invariably a bundle of success. If lines are falling for a man in pleasant and favourable places, all things pertaining to glorious and peaceful living will adequately be in proportionate availability. As well, a favoured man doesn’t suffer labour loss or destiny miscarriage. Also, it is the mercy that terminates reprimands, and promotes the grace that supports salvation. Tell me, if I may ask, how life purpose will not be fulfilled in grand style for a man who is endowed with such qualities? But for goodness and mercy to follow you, you need to first seek God and follow Him. The more you accompany God the more of His grace, attributes and qualities imparted. I admonish you run towards God with humility and follow Him in holiness, if abundant life is your craving. Say Amen, if Psalm 5:12 is for you: “For thou, Lord , wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield”. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
